good morning sir, (what will you say if it is a woman?)
i am glad to be here for this interview. first, let me thank you forfinding time in the midst of pssing affairs.
i am 25 years old and i am local. (i live locally sounds better) i amseeking an opportunity to work with xxx as sales. (in sales or as a salesrepsentative/whatever)。my professional experience and my awareness of yourunparalleled reputation h***e led me to want to work for your company.
i h***e a bacheloregree with a major in mechanical and electricalfield.(pause) graduated from the xxx university in 20xx. over the past threeyears, i h***e worked with xxx co.,ltd as sales (again, in sales or as a salesman/person/rep?) who responsible (with responsibility mainly) for the market ofhunan.uring this period, i h***e learnt much. i learned the values of teamworkand commitment, how to win, how to work hard, how to concentrate and focus ongoals, and how to balance my time and priorities. additional experience in otherfields such as graduation practice in factory and commercial negotiation alsoreinforces my value to your company.
i enjoy thinking, enjoy learning, enjoy working, (and i am )able to bearwork pssure.
in my free time, i often participate (in) activities such as table tennis(and) badminton.
i am expecting to become your colleague on someay. (more tactful to say’i would love to become you colleague/join the company)
because being offhand in advance, let’s le***e it at that. (this sentencemakes no sense. ’being offhand’ means to be rude, inconsiderate, ill-mannered soion’t think that is whay you mean! in advance of what? ’let’s le***e it atthat’ is a command, it sounds rather abrupt and ill-mannered to me, again idon’t think this is what you meant. how about ’i would love to join your companyand you would not regret giving me this opportunity.’ and just finish with asmile!)
thanks.

i am a third year master major in automation at shanghai jiao tonguniversity, p. r. china. with tremendous interest in industrial engineering, iam writing to apply for acceptance into your ph.d. graduate program.
in 1995, i entered the nanjing university of science & technology(nust) -- widely considered one of the china’s best engineering schools.uringthe following undergraduate study, my academic records keptistinguished amongthe wholeepartment. i was granted first class prize every semester, and myoverall gpa(89.5/100) ranked no.1 among 113 students. in 1999, i got theprivilege to enter the graduate program waived of the admission test. i selectedthe shanghai jiao tong university to continue my study for its best reputationon combinatorial optimization and network scheduling where my research interestlies.
at the period of my graduate study, my overall gpa(3.77/4.0) ranked top 5%in theepartment. in the second semester, i became teacher assistant that isgiven to talented and matured students only. this year, i won the acerscholarship as the one and only candidate in myepartment, which is theultimate accolade foristinguished students endowed by my university.presently, i am pparing my graduation thesis and trying for the honor ofexcellent graduation thesis.
research experience and academic activity, when a sophomore, i joined theassociation of ai enthusiast and began to narrowown my interest for my futureresearch. in 1997, i participated in simulation toolevelopment for thescheduling system in prof. wang’s lab. with the tool of opengl and matlab, idesigned a simulation program for transportation scheduling system. it is nowwidely used byifferent research groups in nust. in 1998, i assumed andfulfilled a sewage analysis &ispose project for nanjing sewage treatmentplant. this was my first practice to convert a laboratory idea to a commercialproduct.
in 1999, i joined theistinguished professor yu-geng xis research groupaiming at network flow problem solving and heuristic algorithm research. soon iwas engaged in the fudan geneatabaseesign.
myuty was to pick up the useful information amongifferent kinds of genematching format. through the comparison and analysis for many heuristicalgorithms, i introduced an improved evolutionary algorithm -- multi-populationgenetic algorithm. by piding a whole population into several sub-populations,this improved algorithm can effectively pvent ga from local convergence andpromote various evolutionary orientations. it proved more efficiently than sgain experiments, too. in the second semester, i joined the workshop-schedulingresearch in shanghai he***yuty tyre plant. the scheduling wasesigned for therubber-making process that covered not onlyiscrete but also continuouscircumstances. to make a balance point between optimization quality and timecost, i proposed aynamic layered scheduling method based on hybrid petri nets.the practical application showed that the ***erage makespan was shortened by alarge scale.
i also publicized two papers in core journals with this idea. recently, iamoing research in the composite predict of the electrical power systemassisted with the technology ofata mining for bao steel. i try to combine thedecision tree with receding optimization to provide a new solution for thecomposite predictive problem. this project is now under construction.
besides, in july 2000, i got the opportunity to give a lecture in englishin asia control conference (ascc) which is one of the top-level conferencesamong the world in the area of control and automation. in my senior year, i metprof.xiao-song lin, a visiting professor of mathematics from university ofcalifornia-riverside, i learned graph theory from him for my network research.these experiences all rapidly expanded my knowledge of english and theunderstanding of western culture.
i hope to study inepth .in retrospect, i find myself standing on a solidbasis in both theory and experience, which has ppared me for the ph.d.program. my future research interests include: network scheduling problem, heuristic algorithm research (especially in ga and neural network), supply chainnetwork research, hybrid system performance analysis with petri nets andatamining.
please give my application materials a serious consideration. thank youvery much.
